In TOYOTA00 (2018), Lewis Teague Wright offers viewers an immersive journey through the labyrinthine corridors of memory and time. Harnessing a multi-disciplinary approach that incorporates CGI video, photography and sculpture, Wright crafts a complex, almost surreal, tapestry that blurs the boundaries between science fiction, archaeology and the spontaneity of youth. As we traverse this psychedelic landscape, we are invited to delve deep into the filmmaker’s personal ‘mind map’, depicted as an expansive beach on England’s South Coast. Here, Wright's vivid narrative unfolds, a canvas scarred and annotated with remnants of memories, a place where the past resists the eroding forces of time, captured in the echoing crackles of driftwood bonfires and the transient artistry etched in the sands. This poignant visual odyssey serves as a testament to the enduring and transformative power of memories, immortalized within nature’s ephemeral gallery.
