Established in 2020, Vardaxoglou is a London-based gallery specialising in modern and contemporary art. The gallery’s programme features exhibitions with a number of contemporary artists in the context of regular historical surveys that present pioneering artists to a new audience.
Vardaxoglou Gallery has presented the first solo exhibitions in London by Betsy Bradley, Lewis Brander, and Tanoa Sasraku, and in June 2023 opened Niamh O’Malley’s first solo exhibition in London, following her representing Ireland at 59th Venice Biennale in 2022. In July 2023, Shaan Syed’s first solo exhibition with Vardaxoglou opened at the gallery.
In addition to working with living artists, Vardaxoglou Gallery represents the Robyn Denny Estate and recent survey exhibitions have included artists such as Denny alongside Richard Smith, Sue Dunkley, David Hockney, and Howard Hodgkin, sometimes comprising significant private and institutional loans. In Spring 2023, the gallery opened an exhibition of unseen kite paintings by Richard Smith, in collaboration with the Richard Smith Estate.
Vardaxoglou is also active in publishing regular exhibition literature, artist’s books, monographs, texts, and editions, on occasion of particular exhibitions and artist projects, which are all available to view at the gallery. Recent contributors to Vardaxoglou Publishing include Chris Fite-Wassilak, Hettie Judah, Pam Evelyn, Ellen Greig, Rosalind Nashashibi, Robert Leckie, and Greville Worthington. The gallery's first major monograph, 'Tanoa Sasraku: Terratypes', was published in January 2023.
In addition to our main exhibition programme, the gallery often shares Online Presentations and Viewing Rooms on specific artworks or areas of art historical interest, also available to view in person.
The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday, 11am-5pm, during exhibitions.
