Learn to run engaging social media campaigns and grow your following
Frieze Academy presents an essential full-day course for anyone wishing to update or build a social media presence in the cultural arena of art and fashion. This course will guide you through the tools and techniques to establish your voice and engage with a diverse audience. With a wealth of practical tips on using social media effectively in the creative industries, speakers will include experts from organisations including the Design Museum, experienced arts and fashion digital media specialists, as well as artists Quentin Jones and Unskilled Worker - who bridge both the art and fashion worlds.
Subjects will include:
Josephine Chanter is Director of Audiences at the Design Museum. Having successfully launched the #newdesignmuseum integrated communications opening campaign in its new building in 2016, she has established the museum as one of the most significant cultural voices on Twitter; commissioned an award-winning app and the museum’s multi award-winning website. Her recent campaigns have been #alaia2018 and #hopetonope as well #fontsunday which she has run since 2011.
Jo Craven is head of Programming at Frieze Academy and will introduce the day, host the panel discussions and interview Quentin Jones. Her past roles include Arts and Lifestyle Director at Porter magazine, Features Editor at British Vogue. Her remit has always been to generate cultural content for a global audience in events, print and digital as well as social media.
Cody Eastmond is a Senior Director at The Communications Store with 13 years’ experience on strategy for retail, marketing, content creation and primarily social media. His focus has been on developing innovative storytelling and social media programs. He has worked with Converse, The Conran Shop, CIROC Vodka, Ralph Lauren, Net-A-Porter and Versace alongside content development projects with publishers including Conde Nast and Refinery29.
Quentin Jones is a director, illustrator and photographer whose films and images have appeared in magazines such as I-D and Vogue. She has worked with brands such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton amongst others. Her technique uses photomontage, paintwork and video.
Laura Preece is Head of Editorial at Sutton PR and has extensive experience of creating editorial strategies to promote the art world’s biggest names. Before Sutton, she worked at Christie’s, producing content to support activities across 32 offices worldwide. She has commissioned films, and has coordinated live coverage of events including the Venice Biennale, and has written for galleries including Lisson and Alan Cristea.
Unskilled Worker is the moniker of Helen Downie, the London-based, self-taught artist who rapidly rose to prominence via her hugely successful Instagram account over the last 4 years. Discovered by fashion photographer Nick Knight her work was commissioned to run alongside the V&A’s McQueen show. In 2015, Gucci commissioned portraits from her, and she is now a much-collected artist.
