Four works were acquired today at Frieze London as gifts to the Tate collection via the Frieze Tate Fund, supported by Endeavor.

The works were acquired from galleries in Focus (Hannah Black at Arcadia Missa) and Sex Work (Mary Beth Edelson at David Lewis and Dorothy Iannone at Air de Paris) as well the main gallery section (Lawrence Abu Hamdan from Maureen Paley).

The choices were made by a jury including Tate Curators Clarrie Wallis, Andrea Lissoni, Elsa Coustou and Fiontan Moran — alongside guests Adriano Pedrosa (Artistic Director, Museu de Arte de São Paulo) and Elena Filipovic (Director, Kunsthalle Basel).

Tate Director Maria Balshaw spoke of ‘an important contribution to the national collection’, adding ‘we are once again excited to be able to select work from Frieze so that a broad public at Tate can experience new art as it emerges’, and thanking Endeavor and Frieze for their support.
