Art historical insight

Contextualizing contemporary practice, twentieth century presentations at the fair will include Galerie Daniel Blau’s (Munich) solo presentation of Andy Warhol’s works on paper, including key photographic sources for these drawings. Castelli Gallery (New York) returns with significant works by pioneering US artists Richard Artschwager, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Sonnier, while The Mayor Gallery (London) presents a solo by François Morellet (1926-2016), French painter, sculptor, and light artist – following his survey exhibition at Dia:Chelsea and Dia:Beacon (New York). A group show at Michael Rosenfeld Gallery (New York) presents female artists experimenting in collage, including Hannelore Baron and Nancy Grossman, while Bernard Jacobson (London) presents pieces by Sam Francis, Robert Motherwell and Henri Matisse alongside new works by the likes of Pierre Soulages.
