Presentation: On SEA STATE and Sea States

Friday 22 November 2019
11:35am - 12:20pm

A one-time Olympic sailor, the work of Singaporean artist Charles Lim Yi Yong intimately analyses the interaction of natural and human development in our environment. Initiated in 2005 and exhibited in global biennials, his project SEA STATE is dedicated to exploring how land reclamation has created an often unseen transformation of the physical and cultural landscape. In this presentation, Lim discusses his research and its manifestations, including SEA STATE 9: proclamation garden, which was recently on view at the National Gallery Singapore.
