Galeria Jaqueline Martins will present a dialogue between artists Adriano Amaral and Rafael França.

Amaral is represented by unseen sculptures composed by appropriated objects combined with silicone, glass and aluminum. Rafael França’s work will be represented by a group of some of his most important videos, all produced in the 1980’s. Through the search for unexpected physical relations between the materiality of his work and the environment around it, Adriano develops an unusual but consistent conceptual relation with França.

In Rafael’s videos, his images do not act as an actual document, mirroring the artist and his actions, neither does he conceives linear stories and narratives, he sets his videos exactly somewhere in ‘between’ these approaches, where fragmented images, sound cuts and color experiments leave the observer won-dering which would be the appropriate codes to comprehend the images. Both artists work with specific and separate languages but this ambiguous field of action is the key through which their works complement each other.
