Koppe Astner presents a new body of hand-woven works by San Francisco based artist Josh Faught.

The work  centres  around a now outdated book entitled,  The Unoffical Gay Manual,  which Faught found  at a second hand store in Palm Springs, California. Written in 1994 by Kevin Dilallo and Jack Krumholtz, the book purports to function as a support resource for newly out-of-the-closet homosexual men: a relic from a generation that has since passed due to the AIDS epidemic and the proliferation of the internet.  The work particularly focuses on a series of illustrations that indexes the qualities and products that aid in identifying a “gay living space.” Faught is interested in the ways that these texts  and  illustrations speak relative to issues of taste and community.
