Megan Rooney

Drei, Cologne (H26)

This presentation highlights the artist's continued investigation of colour and surface across the mediums of painting and sculpture.

The works presented reflect Rooney’s rich pool of narratives through the transformation of ubiquitous and ordinary materials, presented alongside a mass of painted faces; bright and earthy.

Megan Rooney's (b. 1986, Toronto) presentation features two new bodies of work in conversation. A large grid of physiologically charged paintings on paper as part of the artist’s ongoing series ‘Old baggy root’, exploring themes of loss, death and sexuality are accompanied by a group of sculptures, comprised from a diverse range of materials that reference the domestic but also survival, such as garbage bags, highway barriers, harvesting nets, and flotation devices.
