Tang Dixin

'Rest is the Best Way of Revolution' is an ongoing performance project by Tang Dixin (b. 1982, Hangzhou), where walls were inscribed with fonts emblematic of the 1980s and painted in red and green. Wearing a doctor gown, Dixin invites the visitors to participates and have parts of their body dressed and plastered in order to let them ‘rest up’. The artist offers a posture of rest and non-action as a response to the seemingly endless human rush and bustle.

Tang’s seemingly nonsensical act at the stand can be interpreted as a revolt - under the guise of healing - against the art establishment symbolized by the contemporary art system.
