Charlie James Gallery was founded in 2009. The gallery is known for discovering emergent artists and bringing them to a global audience. We have a strong concept-driven roster that embraces all artistic media. The gallery is moving into a focus on work from non-dominant perspectives, work often described as political or activist in nature.
Works by the gallery’s artists have been acquired and/or exhibited by museums such as the Centre Pompidou (Paris), MoMA (New York), Whitney Museum of American Art, MCA Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Hammer Museum (UCLA), the Blanton Museum at the University of Texas Austin, the MFA Houston, the Orange County Museum, the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The gallery has participated in many art fairs, including EXPO Chicago, Zona Maco, Paris Photo LA, the Dallas Art Fair, and Art Toronto.
