Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2024 Temporary Staff Opportunities

Frieze is a media and events company that comprises three publications, frieze magazine, Frieze Masters Magazine and Frieze Week; and five international art fairs, Frieze London, Frieze LA, Frieze New York, Frieze Seoul (launching September 2022) and Frieze Masters; regular talks and summits, led by frieze editors; and frieze.com – the definitive resource for contemporary art and culture.

We are seeking temporary staff to fill the following roles:

Accreditation Team: This team issues passes to all personnel working and exhibiting at the fair. Applicants should be IT literate and comfortable using databases. Good people management skills and experience working with the public and/or contractors in a very fast-paced environment are essential. This role needs to have a good understanding of the security issues surrounding the fair and liaise with security as necessary. A foreign language is an advantage. Successful candidates will be required for additional dates both pre and post-fair.

Cloakroom and Bag drop Runners: This team implements and executes a methodical system to ensure the smooth drop off and collection of items at both the coat check and bag drop. This is a public facing position that is important to the overall visitor experience of Frieze. Applicants should be friendly, organised, and collaborative. This position involves extended periods of standing and manual handling.

Distribution Team: These positions are physical and involve a high degree of manual handling. This team assists the marketing department with the distribution of printed literature, set-up and onsite deliveries. Applicants should be dynamic, enthusiastic, communicative, and reliable. Successful candidates will be required for additional dates both pre and post-fair.

Exhibitor Assistants: Applicants should have good interpersonal, organisational and computer skills, as well as experience working in a fast-paced environment. A knowledge of and genuine interest in contemporary art/art history is desirable, as is prior experience working in an art fair or gallery environment. Candidates who speak languages in addition to English are especially encouraged to apply. A previous visit to the fair is desirable. Successful candidates will be required for additional dates both pre and post-fair.

Vetting Scribes: Applicants must be comfortable and competent in a client-facing role, have an interest in and strong knowledge of art history and historical terms across a variety of disciplines. Candidates need good organisational skills and to be experienced note-takers, preferably with prior knowledge of the fair.

Sales and Information staff: These public-facing positions, managed by the Marketing department, involve handing out fair information, answering questions from visitors and selling Frieze publications and other contemporary art magazines. Familiarity with frieze publications and previous sales/retail experience is desirable. Applicants should be personable and outgoing, as well as comfortable with extended periods of standing.

PR/Press Team: Applicants should be personable, patient, and have strong people management and IT skills. Prior PR or events experience is desirable, as is an interest in contemporary art. Candidates who speak languages in addition to English are especially encouraged to apply. The role can involve familiarizing media with the fair, using online check-in systems, issuing passes, chaperoning film crews and updating image banks.

Tour Desk Assistants: This position is public facing and involves scheduling tours, greeting clients, and answering questions pertaining to the Tours Programme at Frieze. Key responsibilities include: welcoming guests and checking them into their tour; communicating itineraries with tour guides to ensure they arrive and deliver tours on time; setting up audio equipment for public tours including setting up microphones and transmitters and taking payment for new ticket sales. Applications should be personable and organized, with excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Interest in and knowledge about contemporary art is desirable.

VIP Assistants: applicants must have a polished manner, excellent interpersonal skills and remain calm under pressure. Some knowledge of artists and collectors in the contemporary art world and experience of working with VIPs in a fast-moving environment, are required. Successful applicants will be the main point of contact at the Frieze VIP desks – checking people in, issuing VIP cards and answering any enquiries about the fair, under the supervision of our Frieze VIP Team. Other responsibilities can include assisting with events on and off site, as well as back of house data entry. All positions may involve extended periods of standing. Post Room Staff: This team manages deliveries to site. Applicants should be organised, reliable and proactive. This is a back of house position which involves working both independently and as part of a team.
