The Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award returns in 2025 for its sixth edition in partnership with film and TV production company FIFTH SEASON and the non-profit Ghetto Film School. The award gives a platform and a mentored development programme to emerging Los Angeles-based filmmakers aged between 18 and 34. The six Fellows realize new moving-image works, which in 2025 are inspired by the theme of ‘Togetherness’.
This year’s six filmmakers are Guinevere Alcaraz (@shogun.shawty), Ja’Lisa Arnold (@jai.soul), Austin Chen (@austin.atticus), Nicole Mairose Dizon (@nicolemdizon), Christopher Guerrero (@mindshawk) and Sophia Lafaurie-Muñoz (@sophia.lafaurie).

Along with getting advice and exposure for their work, the participating filmmakers are eligible for two prizes. A panel of leading figures in the arts and entertainment industry select the recipient of the Jury Award, while the public gets to vote in the Audience Award. The Jury Award winner receives $10,000 and the Audience Award winner $2,500.
This year’s jury consists of Claudio de Sanctis of Deutsche Bank; Christine Messineo, Director of Americas at Frieze; Tayanna Todd of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group; filmmaker and artist Rhys Ernst; Erin Christovale of the Hammer Museum; and Oscar-nominated writer-director RaMell Ross.
The winning filmmakers are announced during Frieze Los Angeles 2025.
