Pauline Boty (1938-1966) was a leading figure of the British Pop Art movement who fearlessly tackled race, gender, sexuality and politics in her art. Boty was a vital female voice in the otherwise male-dominated Pop scene of the 1960s. After her untimely death at the age of 28, her work was largely overshadowed by her male counterparts until her first major posthumous museum exhibition in 2013. In 2023 Gazelli Art House curated 'Pauline Boty: A Portrait', one of only three complete retrospective exhibitions of her work.
