Dastan features an extensive and multi-dimensional program, focusing on the full spectrum of Iranian contemporary and modern art. Dastan's program includes Dastan's Basement, +2 and Dastan:Outside. In addition to hosting exhibitions, Dastan maps out a host of events, including the publication of artist books as well as monographs on Iranian art, the screeing of films related to the art scene, and performance projects.
Dastan's Basement, was established in 2012 in Tehran, Iran. The Basement is dedicated to exhibiting emerging and experimental Iranian art, which, given the country's profound transformations especially in the past four decades, is not wanting. With its short, intimate setting, Dastan's Basement can be arranged to realize some of the many projects that line up at its door. These are works that engage the viewer and wrestle with established norms of practice.
+2 Gallery was launched by Dastan in 2015 to showcase established Iranian artists. Many of the names that come to +2 are considered masters of their trade. +2 exhibitions open a vista to the viewers to see the where-from and the where-to trajectory of Iranian art today.
Since 2012, Dastan has continuously hosted pop-up curated exhibitions around the city of Tehran under the title Dastan:Outside. These pop-ups include shows at Sam Art (in Sam Center Mall), V- Gallery, and
Shirin Confectionary's building. The program, aimed to extend the gallery’s program outside of its regular venues, features exhibitions that are usually site-specific and mostly involve experimental and nontraditional formats of exhibiting art.
Parallel Circuit, the latest in Dastan spaces is , a high-ceiling, accommodating space in downtown Tehran where large projects are conceived. Parallel Circuit is a bridge that connects the various extremities of the Iranian art corpus. Exhibitions at Parallel Circuit aim to open the way for artists standing at the interstices of established and experimental art.
