Kisterem was founded with the aim to showcase progressive tendencies of Hungarian contemporary art within its local settings and on international platforms. By representing both emerging talents and established artists as well as overlooked figures of the recent past, the gallery's operations are focused on exposing a particular narrative through seven yearly exhibitions within its spaces. In order to further draw the attention of its audience to intriguing art practices, the gallery frequently attends prominent art fairs and initiates special presentations in Hungary and abroad (see Bookmarks project, organised with acb Gallery and Vintage; collaboration with DIT. Vienna; Finally We Can Learn Something, group exhibition at an external location). Another pillar of the gallery's agency is the research into the oeuvres of its artists and the publication of resulting catalogues. Keen on showing international artists from the region, the gallery also collaborates with curators on exhibitions that present current tendencies.
