Frieze Sculpture is open from 5 July to 8 October, presenting a free outdoor display throughout the summer months.

Selected by Clare Lilley (Director of Programme, Yorkshire Sculpture Park) and featuring leading international galleries, Frieze’s first-ever summer display in the English Gardens of The Regent’s Park brings together 25 new and significant works by leading 20th-century and contemporary artists from around the world, including: Magdalena Abakanowicz, Rasheed Araeen, Urs Fischer, KAWS, Alicja Kwade, Michael Craig-Martin, Ugo Rondinone and Sarah Sze.

From the Playful to the Political
Works in Frieze Sculpture are selected by Clare Lilley, following an open call for applications submitted by international galleries.

'From the playful to the political, these 25 works explore contemporary sculpture’s material and technical dexterity, together with its social role and reflection on the human condition and our environment'. (Clare Lilley)

Highlights include:

  • Thomas J Price’s (Hales London New York) startling triple portraits of men of African origin 
  • Reza Aramesh’s (Leila Heller Gallery) metamorphosis of mythical animal and subjected figure
  • A six-metre-high ubiquitous toy-human figure by KAWS (Galerie Perrotin)
  • Superb classical modern works by Magdalena Abakanowicz (Marlborough Fine Art), Sir Anthony Caro (Annely Juda Fine Art), Sir Eduardo Paolozzi (Pangolin), Sir Michael Craig-Martin (New Art Centre / Gagosian), and Sir Anthony Cragg (Holtermann Fine Art)
  • Wonderful visceral, textural sculptures by Urs Fischer (Gagosian), Takuro Kuwata (Alison Jacques Gallery & Salon 94)
  • An extraordinary white-enameled bronze tree by Ugo Rondinone (Sadie Coles HQ)
  • A stacked column of bronze footballs by Hank Willis Thomas (Ben Brown Fine Arts)
  • A a multidimensional riddle using rocks and mirror by Alicja Kwade (kamel mennour)
