Sherrie Levine (Xavier Hufkens)
Small Check (Red and Gray), 2007-2020
duo oil on white oak
55.9 × 15.2 cm, 22 × 6 in.
I love Sherrie Levine’s rigorous practice, which manifests itself in many different formal ways. In this work, I am drawn to the references to abstraction and to Duchamp and the Dada spirit via the chess pattern.
Alan Saret (Karma)
Illusionexus, 1975
Brass wire
20 x 24 x 20 inches; 50.8 x 61 x 50.8 cm
$100-250k
I fell immediately in love with Saret’s work, which reminds me of Cy Twombly: on the verge between control and chance, order and disorder.
Günther Förg (White Cube)
Untitled, 2007
Acrylic on canvas
120 × 100 cm | 47 1/4 × 39 3/8 in.
Signed and dated ‘Förg 07’ (upper right)
Sold
I am moved by Förg’s last series; after years of a mainly geometric and monochrome body of work, the artist transitions towards movement and colors.
Clare Rojas (Andrew Kreps)
Shadow man and shadow friend in the spirit realm, 2021
Oil on Linen
70 x 56 inches, 177.8 x 142.2 cm.
$75,000
I was surprised by this painting, being more familiar with Clare Rojas abstract compositions and folklore inspired works.
Alvaro Barrington (Thaddeus Ropac)
Dont be mad UPS is hiring: The storm, 2022
Mixed media
183 x 160 x 7.7 cm (72 x 63 x 3 in)
Barrington’s practice, fuelled by popular elements mixed with personal memories rooted in his multicultural heritage, creates strong works, which talk of universality through intimacy.
Jordan Wolfson (Sadie Coles HQ)
Untitled, 2019
UV print on aluminium with enamel paint, painted screws and bumper stickers
214 x 185.2 cm / 84 ¼ x 72 ⅞ in
$300,000
Following Paul McCarthy and Mike Kelley’s path (two of my favourite artists), Jordon Wolfson’s critical and cynical depiction of American society and human nature, embraces issues that interest me the most in artistic creation.
