Join Charlene Prempeh, author and founder of A Vibe Called Tech, in conversation with artist Tavares Strachan on May 1 at the Rizzoli Bookstore. In celebration of the publication of Prempeh’s debut book, Now You See Me: An Introduction to 100 Years of Design, the duo will discuss the importance of exploring and documenting missing Black figures and histories.
They will delve into the stories that Prempeh’s book brings to the fore and Strachan’s artistic practice which has long celebrated and elevated overlooked Black figures whose work has been central to culture. Together, they will examine and debate how Black pioneers can be given their dues in real time and the forms in which this can and should take.
