국제갤러리에서 2025년을 여는 두 전시의 프라이빗 투어에 프리즈 91 회원님들을 초대합니다.
하종현 개인전 《Ha Chong-Hyun》은 ‘회화란 무엇인가’라는 질문 아래, 반세기 동안 유화를 탐구해온 작가의 실험 정신과 예술적 궤적을 조망하는 자리입니다. 대표 연작 〈접합〉과 〈이후접합〉 등 자유로운 회화적 접근과 다채로운 색채를 담은 근작 29점을 통해 한국 근현대미술의 새로운 길을 개척해온 하종현의 작업세계를 만나 보실 수 있습니다.
최재은의 개인전 《자연국가》에서는 작가의 오랜 관심사인 ‘숲’을 다채롭게 해석한 회화, 조각, 영상 작품과 더불어 2015년부터 진행해온 DMZ 프로젝트를 함께 소개합니다. 〈자연국가(Nature Rules)〉 프로젝트는 작가가 직접 제작한 DMZ 생태 현황 분석도를 기반으로 한반도 비무장지대의 회복을 체계적으로 연구한 프로젝트입니다. 생명과 자연에 대한 고찰, 그리고 예술과 과학의 밀접한 접목을 실천해온 최재은이 그리는 서정적 풍경을 이번 전시에서 감상하실 수 있습니다.
이번 프라이빗 투어는 재료와 물성에 대한 깊이 있는 실험, 그리고 자연과 생명에 대한 탐구를 각자의 방식으로 풀어낸 두 작가의 작업 세계를 가까이에서 경험할 수 있는 특별한 기회입니다. 프리즈 91 회원님들의 많은 관심과 참여를 바랍니다.
Kukje Gallery is pleased to invite the members of Frieze 91 to a private tour of the first two exhibitions of 2025.
Ha Chong-Hyun examines the artist’s continuous experimentation with oil paint and his commitment to exploring the materiality of painting over the course of the past half century, centered around Ha’s ongoing inquiry: "What is painting?" The exhibition features 29 works created between 2009 and the present, including his renowned Conjunction series, as well as the Post-Conjunction series. Through Ha’s most representative contributions to contemporary painting, the exhibition highlights his prolific career as an artist and pioneering figure of Korean modern and contemporary art.
Nature Rules showcases Jae-Eun Choi’s multifaceted interpretation of the “forest,” a subject of persistent interest in her oeuvre through her paintings, sculptures and video, along with the introduction of the DMZ Project. Recategorized under a new title, “Nature Rules,” the artist has undertaken more structured research into the ecological recovery of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in the Korean peninsula. Showcasing Choi’s lyrical landscapes, the exhibition invites viewers to share the artist’s vision to recover nature’s sovereignty by exploring the relationship between life and nature, and the close intersection of art and science.
