Thought at the beginning as an extension of the on going production office Perros Negros, and capitalizing with its experiences Gaga, started operating as a commercial gallery in January 2008 with Claire Fontaine's solo show Capitalism is not working.
Carried by the idea of representing a group of artists both local and foreign from different generations, and showing their work in Mexico, Gaga operates in close relation with its artists many of whom develop works in other fields, collectives, brands and galleries.
Using Mexico City’s ambivalent position as both a peripheral locality and in some cases part of the global art market system, and mixing its free experimentation ambiance with serious and committed works, we are eager to develop a mutating structure using the freedom that our “on formation” stage gives us.
