Alicja Kwade and Gregor Hildebrandt: Two Decades of Making Art in Berlin

Join a talk in the Sherry Lansing Theatre at 3pm on Saturday

in Frieze | 12 FEB 20

Two of the internationally most acclaimed artists based in Berlin, Alicja Kwade and Gregor Hildebrandt, will be in conversation with gallerist Johann König on what it is like living in one of the most vibrant art cities of the world over the past two decades. Polish-born Alicja Kwade is known for transferring scientific questions into her work. Her 2019 show ParaPivot on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum New York evoked a miniature solar system. Her partner Gregor Hildebrandt makes extensive use of pre-recorded cassette tapes as a material in his pictures and installations. At Frieze Los Angeles it is for the first time ever that Alicja Kwade and Gregor Hildebrandt team up to create a duo booth solely dedicated to their works. A special issue of the gallery’s own magazine KÖNIG will be launched during the fair examining the work practices of both artists and their relation to Berlin and each other.
