This Sunday at Frieze Los Angeles offers a final look at the fair before it closes at 6pm. For more information regarding opening hours and how to navigate the fair, head over to the visitor information page for Frieze Los Angeles.
Be sure to catch Russian-born, New York-based artist Sanya Kantarovsky’s solo with Stuart Shave/Modern Art; and São Paulo-based artist Paulo Nimer Pjota’s solo presentation with Mendes Wood DM. Don’t miss pioneering feminist artists Judy Chicago and Carol Rama in a dual presentation with Jeffrey Deitch.
Over at the Paramount Theatre, Tala Madani is screening The Audience (2018), a compilation of seven short animations – often referencing the artist’s Iranian-American nationality, Madani’s films create absurd scenes of fictive ritual.
Don’t forget to visit the fair’s artists projects, set within the New York Street backlot of Paramount Pictures Studios: a disorienting atmosphere in which an artifical New York City appears within Los Angeles. Max Hooper Schneider’s Female Odobenid (2019) exemplifies the artist’s exploration of evolution and a potential future in which humans and animals become one.
Head over to the Sherry Lansing Theatre to listen to LA-based painter Mary Weatherford talking to academic Suzanne Hudson; and later, artist Liz Larner in conversation with poet Ariana Reines.
End the day with a trip to artist Andrea Zittel’s A-Z West pop-up shop, in support of the artist’s institute of investigative living, and artists local to the High Desert. And for a pick-me-up don’t miss out on andSons Chocolatiers and Pretend Plants & Flowers Shop at the fair, which will delight the senses with an abundance of fragrant blooms and delicious chocolate.
