Instituto de Visión (FR4) is the winner of the 2022 Frame Stand Prize at Frieze New York, acknowledging the gallery’s exceptional presentation by Tania Candiani.
Each year, a new jury of expert curators select a winning presentation from the Frame section, which features galleries aged 10 years or younger from all over the world. This year’s Frame Prize jury included Danielle Jackson (Artists Space), Nora Lawrence (Storm King Arts Center) and Allison Glenn (Public Art Fund).
Beatriz López, Artistic Director, Instituto de Visión said: ‘We are excited and happy to win the Frame Stand Prize, and to be recognised for our presentation of Tania Candiani. This project speaks to transformation and the potential for change, for example, the sound piece represents the moment when fire, air and minerals together create glass; whereas the paintings reference the moments when reality is transformed by women-driven demonstrations. The works are at once poetic and political.’
Honourable mentions have been given to Company Gallery (FR8) for their presentation of Cajsa von Zeipel and Regards (FR6) for their presentation of Judith Geichman.
The Frame section features ambitious solo shows of new work, by galleries active for 10 years or less, representing a critical arena for up-and-coming gallery programs from around the world. For Frieze New York 2022 Frame is advised by gallerists Olivia Barrett (Château Shatto, Los Angeles) and Sophie Mörner (Company Gallery, New York).
