Josèfa Ntjam Wins Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art and Fluxus Prize at Frieze London

Josèfa Ntjam, represented by Nicoletti, has been announced as the winner of the of the inaugural Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art and Fluxus Prize. An honorary special mention went to Marie Cool and Fabio Balducci with P420 gallery.
The Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art (CPGA) and Fluxus have partnered with Frieze London to launch this new prize, which is designed to support French or France-based living artists exhibiting at Frieze London. The award of £15,000 will be shared equally between Joséfa Ntjam and Nicoletti.
The selection panel for the CPGA and Fluxus Prize is comprised of esteemed international curators and collectors, including Hervé Mikaeloff (curator), Hélène Nguyen Ban (collector and Chair of Fluxus), Hans Ulrich Obrist (Artistic Director, Serpentine Gallery), Florence Ostende (Curator, Barbican Art Gallery), Thibault Poutrel (collector) and Maria Sukkar (collector).
Nicoletti exhibits Josèfa Ntjam’s new work ‘Deep Sea Teller’, which features five photomontages that conflate factual and fictional narratives of the Middle Passage, the forced voyage of enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean. The series continues Ntjam’s exploration of colonial history in light of natural history, mythology and science fiction.
Frieze London and Frieze Masters take place concurrently from 11–15 October 2023 in The Regent’s Park, London.
