Early morning view of the upcoming displays, Portrait of an artist: Käthe Kollwitz 1867–1945 and Pushing paper: contemporary drawing from 1970 to now. Hugo Chapman, Simon Sainsbury Keeper of Prints and Drawings and Isabel Seligman, Project Curator: Bridget Riley Art Foundation will give an introduction to these exhibitions. 

Featuring nearly 40 works from the British Museum’s collection, Portrait of an artist: Käthe Kollwitz 1867–1945 celebrates the humanity and enduring impact of the German artist’s work while demonstrating her unique artistic talent, technical prowess and intelligence.

Pushing paper: contemporary drawing from 1970 to now will investigate how contemporary artists as diverse as Tacita Dean, Imran Qureshi, Sol LeWitt, Cornelia Parker and Pablo Bronstein have used drawing to examine themes including identity, place, memory, power and process.
