Instituto de Vision is pleased to invite you to visit "Lineage", a two artist exhibition by Abel Rodríguez y Aycoobo-Wilson Rodríguez.
Lineage is a tribute to the men of wisdom of the Amazon, whose resistance and strength have made it possible for the profound knowledge of the ancestors to remain alive today.
For the contemporary communities of the Amazon it is a priority to preserve their knowledge, arts, and sciences.
In a model of thought in which time is not linear but cyclical, just like nature, life does not stop; it is constantly transforming. The flame of the father's wisdom is not extinguished by death, it continues to shine in the work and deeds of his descendants.
This exhibition is a celebration of the process of transmitting knowledge throughout a lifetime, to guarantee that the Spirit that maintains harmony among all beings is not extinguished in a modern world that is increasingly disconnected from its fundamental relationship with Nature.
Don Abel Rodríguez (born Mogaje Guihu) is one of the last botanists of the Nonuya people. In his pieces, he holds the scientific knowledge inherited by generations and that has been used by his community to live in harmony with the Amazon jungle.
In the work of Aycoobo-Wilson Rodríguez, his son, chosen to guard this wisdom and converge the knowledge of his ancestors, the shamanic visions channeled in his astral travels mediated by the use of medicinal plants and his experience as a contemporary subject living in the city.
