Collector Frances Reynolds leads a visit of her home and collection in London, which is broadly based around a sense of harmony and intimacy that can be seen within three tropes of artistic practice: abstraction, the figure and nature. There is an obvious fascination in the power of gesture and notions of tranquillity, equilibrium that can be found in the everyday. Reynolds will be in conversation with Aaron Cezar, Director of Delfina Foundation in London.
With works that span over 80 years, the collection is on display in London, Madrid and Rio. Many of the works clearly show traces of the artists hand in the making including works by Phyllida Barlow, Eva Hesse, Mira Schendal, Lygia Clark, Anish Kapoor and Studies by Roberto Burle Marx through notional abstract constructions. The figure is expressed through works by Louise Bourgeois, Renate Bertlmann, Alberto Giacometti, Henry Moore, Allan Kaprow life studies, Thomas Houseago, Hans Josephsohn, David Mach, Juan Munoz and Do Ho Suh. Nature and the environment is represented in works by Anselm Kiefer, Louise Bourgeois, Matthew Barney, Olafur Eliasson, Vick Muniz, Tarsila de Amaral and Lucas Arruda, amongst others.
Frances Reynolds is the Founder and President of the Fundación Arte Viva in Europe and Inclusartiz Institute in Brazil, non-profit organisations which promotes cultural initiatives to bring art, culture and education closer to all sections of society – from hosting an international artist and curators' residencies in Rio de Janeiro, to educational projects and leading international art exhibitions, with the objective of creating a platform of dialogue.
Aaron Cezar is the founding Director of Delfina Foundation, where he develops, curates and oversees its interrelated programme of residencies, exhibitions and public platforms.
