Missy Flynn from Rita’s creates an El Sol en Soho cocktail
Rita’s joined Frieze London with a grab and go space in 2018 and participated to the 2019 fair with a full restaurant.
Ingredients list:
40ml Maestro Dobel Tequila
20ml Fresh lime juice
20ml Honey water, or agave syrup. Make honey water by mixing equal parts honey and warm water, stir to dissolve.
Turmeric powder
Perrier water
40ml Blood Orange juice
Marjoram
Blood orange
Method:
In a cocktail shaker or jam jar, mix together Maestro Dobel Tequila, lime juice, honey water (or agave) and a pinch or two of turmeric powder, using the back of a spoon if you want to avoid staining your hands
Shake this hard with ice to combine and make sure all the turmeric powder is incorporated
Add ice cubes to the serving tumbler and pour blood orange juice into the bottom of the glass
Carefully layer the turmeric margarita on top, pouring slowly and using a spoon to hold back any chunks of ice
Top with a splash of Perrier
Add a slice of blood orange and the marjoram on top
Rita’s is a modern American restaurant co-founded by chef Gabriel Pryce and beverage and front of house manager Missy Flynn. The pair have run multiple projects since starting out above a nightclub in Dalston in 2012, including a much-loved stand-alone restaurant in Hackney and a 70-cover dining room at Frieze London. This year, Rita’s Dining will be opening a new restaurant in a grade 2-listed building in the heart of Soho with a menu that references the broad culinary spectrum of the US, with a focus on seasonal ingredients grown much closer to home.
