- 구지윤
구지윤(b. 1982)의 회화 작업은 소란스럽고 바쁜 도시 속에서 세심하게 포착한 다양한 층위의 감정, 그 중에서도 특히 끊임없이 사라지거나 변화할 수 밖에 없는 도시 속에 은밀히 내재된 불안이나 공허가 응축된 심리적 풍경을 표현한다. 작가에게 도시와 건물은 시간에 속박된 생물학적 유기체와 동일시된다. 서울과 근교의 건물들을 유심히 보고 다니며 오래되어 부스러지고 색이 바랜 건물들을 의인화하는 작가는, 끊임없는 파괴와 생성의 힘으로 유지되는 도시의 잔혹한 순리 속에서 언젠가는 기억 속에서만 남고 사라질 건물들의 운명에 처연함을 느낀다. 그렇기 때문에 지금 이 순간 여기서 내가 바라보는 도시의 인상과 함께 계속해서 바뀌는 것들에 대한 감정들이 구지윤 작가의 작업에선 중요하다. 작가는 이러한 사유에 근거한 심리적 도시 풍경을 구체적 묘사나 균형 잡힌 구성이 아닌 색채와 선 등의 조형 요소들이 서로 뒤엉킨 추상 회화로 귀결시킨다. 특히 화면들에서 은밀하게 포착되는 새로운 것과 오래된 것과의 대비, 날카롭고 거친 선과 두텁고 부드러운 선이 혼재하는 붓질, 탁한 색과 밝은 색이 뒤엉키면서 만들어내는 생경함 등 대비되는 것들의 공존에서 발생하는 미묘한 미적 감흥은 구지윤 작가 회화만이 독특한 묘미이다.
구지윤은 1982년 대구에서 태어났다. 2006년 한국예술종합학교 미술원 조형예술과를 졸업 후 2007년 미국 시카고예술대학 순수미술과에서 학사를 마치고 미국 뉴욕대학교 스튜디오아트에서 석사를 취득했다. 갤러리퍼플(남양주, 한국, 2022), 아라리오갤러리 서울(서울, 한국, 2021), 아라리오뮤지엄 인 스페이스(서울, 한국, 2018), 프로젝트 스페이스 사루비아다방(서울, 한국, 2016) 등에서 개인전을 개최했다. 아라리오갤러리 서울(서울, 한국, 2024; 2021), 아라리오갤러리 천안(천안, 한국, 2021; 2020), 두산갤러리 서울(서울, 한국, 2019; 2014), 소다미술관(화성, 한국, 2019), 하이트컬렉션(서울, 한국, 2018), 자하미술관(서울, 한국, 2018; 2015), 두산갤러리 뉴욕(뉴욕, 미국, 2010) 등의 기관이 연 단체전에 참여했다. 아라리오뮤지엄, 한국은행 등의 기관들이 그의 작품을 소장하고 있다.
- 요한한
요한한(Yohan HAN, b. 1983)은 프랑스에서 태어나 한국을 기반으로 활동하는 작가다. 그는 피부, 몸짓, 춤, 촉각적 감각을 주제로 퍼포먼스, 설치, 미디어 작품을 통해 물리적 현실과 디지털 환경이 교차하는 새로운 감각적 경험을 탐구한다. 디지털 환경 속에서 신체적 감각과 촉각적 소통이 여전히 유효한지 질문하며, 전통적인 제의적 요소와 현대적 기술이 결합하는 방식을 실험하는 작업을 선보인다. 가령 ‘북 메우기’와 같은 원형적 기술을 차용한 조형 오브제, 즉흥적 퍼포먼스, 그리고 미디어 설치를 통해 신체와 비물질적 환경이 만들어내는 공명의 순간을 포착한다. 다양한 외피로 구성된 요한한의 작업은 변태와 탈피를 반복하는 피부의 특성을 차용해 끊임없이 변화하는 신체의 표면성에 주목한다. 그 중 북(鼓) 시리즈는 한국에 체류하던 중 전통 타악기 제작 방식인 ‘북 메우기’를 접하며 시작되었다. 그는 동물의 외피를 가공하는 ‘무두질’과 다양한 공명통 형태에 영감을 받아 소재를 선택했고, 이를 셰이프드 캔버스 형식(shaped canvas)과 결합하여 조형적 가능성을 실험해오고 있다. 이 시리즈에서 북은 신체적 악기이자 고대적 커뮤니케이션 수단으로, 퍼포먼스의 소리와 동작을 이끄는 역할을 한다. 요한한은 고대 커뮤니케이션 수단이자 신체성을 띄고 있는 북을 메우고 그리는 조형 작품 제작과 퍼포먼스 안무 연출을 통해 신체적 표면의 소환과 그 가능성을 탐구한다.
요한한은 1983년 프랑스 트라프에서 태어났다. 수림큐브(서울, 한국, 2023), 팔리아멘트 갤러리(파리, 프랑스, 2022), 갤러리조선(서울, 한국, 2019) 등에서 개인전을 개최했으며, 청주시립미술관(청주, 한국, 2025; 2020), 국립현대미술관(과천, 한국, 2021), 금호미술관(서울, 한국, 2021), 퐁피두 센터(파리, 프랑스, 2017), 국경 없는 예술 공간(파리, 프랑스, 2015; 2014) 등이 연 다수의 단체전 및 프로젝트에 참여하였다. 또한 국립현대미술관 고양창작스튜디오, 금천예술공장, 청주미술창작스튜디오, 프랑스 파리 라 제네랄(La Générale)과 파리 국제예술공동체(Cité internationale des arts) 등의 레지던시 입주 작가로 활동했다. 요한한은 2020년과 2019년 서울문화재단 ‘신진작가지원’과 ‘최초예술지원’에 선정되었으며, 2016년 프랑스 백야 축제(La Nuit Blanche)에 선정된 바 있다.

- KOO Jiyoon
KOO Jiyoon’s (b.1982) works embody the time that passes in the city, depicting the condensed psychological landscape, which reflects on the ever-changing characteristics of urban chronology. The artist identifies the city and its buildings as biological organisms belonging to the structural concept of time. The artist, who observes and personifies the crumbling old buildings in and around Seoul, realizes the tragic fate of these buildings that will one day remain only as a distant memory, disappearing in the brutal order of the city, maintained by the constant cycle of destruction and creation. Therefore, the constant change of emotions, which mirrors the fluctuating characteristics of the city, are at the heart of KOO Jiyoon’s work. The artist captures the city’s desires and memories while reflecting on time and combines them into a psychological landscape where visual elements, such as colors and lines, mingle within the boundaries of the canvas. In particular, the unique and subtle aesthetic of KOO Jiyoon’s works arises from the coexistence of contrast between the new and the old, between the brushstrokes that are sharp and rough in places and thick and soft in others, and between the mixture of cloudy and vivid colors, providing yet another focal point in the abstract paintings.
KOO Jiyoon was born in Daegu in 1982. She received her BFA in Fine Art from Korea National University of Arts in 2006 and School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007, MFA from Studio Art, New York University in 2010. She has held solo exhibitions at Gallery Purple (Namyangju, Korea, 2022), ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL (Seoul, Korea, 2021), ARARIO MUSEUM in SPACE (Seoul, Korea, 2018), Project Space Sarubia (Seoul, Korea, 2016) and more. She has participated in group exhibitions at ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL ( Seoul, Korea, 2024; 2021), ARARIO GALLERY CHEONAN (Cheonan, Korea, 2021; 2020), Doosan Gallery Seoul (Seoul, Korea, 2019; 2014), Soda Museum, Hwaseong (Korea, 2019), Hite Collection (Seoul, Korea, 2018), Zaha Museum (Seoul, Korea, 2018; 2015), Doosan Gallery New York (New York, US, 2010) and more. Her works are collected by ARARIO MUSEUM, Bank of Korea.
- Yohan HAN
Yohan HAN (b. 1983) is a French-born artist currently based in Korea. Through performance, installation, and media works, he explores new sensory experiences at the intersection of physical reality and the digital realm. His practice revolves around themes of skin, gesture, dance, and tactile perception, questioning whether physical sensations and haptic communication remain relevant in a technologically mediated world. By integrating traditional ritualistic elements with contemporary technology, he experiments with ways to bridge these two seemingly disparate domains. HAN’s work captures moments of resonance between the body and its immaterial surroundings, employing sculptural objects inspired by primordial techniques such as drum-stretching, along with improvisational performances and media installations. His practice frequently references the transformative nature of skin—its cycles of metamorphosis and shedding—emphasizing the fluidity and ever-changing surface of the body. Among his key projects, the Drum(鼓) series emerged from his encounter with the Korean traditional percussion-making technique of drum-stretching during his time in Korea. Drawing inspiration from the tanning of animal hides and the various forms of resonance chambers, he explored new sculptural possibilities by merging these ideas with the shaped canvas format. In this series, the drum functions as both a physical instrument and an ancient communication tool, guiding the movement and sound of his performances. By constructing and painting sculptural drum-based works while simultaneously choreographing performances, Han investigates the evocative potential of bodily surfaces and their performative dimensions.
Yohan HAN was born in 1983 in Trappes en Yevelines, France. HAN has presented solo exhibitions at Soorim Cube (Seoul, Korea, 2023), Galerie Parliament (Paris, France, 2022), and Gallery Chosun (Seoul, Korea, 2019). His works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions and projects, including at Cheongju Museum of Art (Cheongju, Korea, 2025; 2020), National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Gwacheon, Korea, 2021), Kumho Museum of Art (Seoul, Korea, 2021), Centre Pompidou (Paris, France, 2017) and Espace des arts sans frontiers (Paris, France, 2015; 2014). HAN has also participated in prestigious residency programs, including MMCA Residency Goyang, Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, Cheongju Art Studio, La Générale Nord-Est (Paris), and Cité internationale des arts (Paris). He was a recipient of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture's ‘Artist Support Program’ (2020) and ‘First Artist Support’ (2019). His work was also selected for La Nuit Blanche (Paris) in 2016.
