A curated program showcasing local and diasporic Korean artists, screened in one of Seoul’s most historic neighbourhoods
Curated by two international art non-profits, GYOPO (Los Angeles) and WESS (Seoul), Frieze Film at Frieze Seoul 2022 will span two locations near Gyeongbokgung Palace, Together Together and Magjib.
Titled I Am My Own Other, this program of ten films explores the effects of technology on the ideation of self; the framing of nationhood; societal conformity; and gender and racial identities within the context of migration and hypercapitalism.
Featuring work by local and diasporic Korean artists spanning 2015 up to the present day, I Am My Own Other brings together some of today’s most critically acclaimed contemporary artists working in time-based media, including: Jeamin Cha, Seo Young Chang, Jisoo Chung, 업체 eobchae, Minki Hong, Donghyun and Sea Jung Kwon, Nikki S. Lee, Jaye Rhee, LaRissa Rogers, Young Joon Kwak and Kim Ye.
Frieze Film is open to the public from August 31 to 7 September. The works at Magjib will be open for viewing from August 31; the works at Together Together can be viewed starting September 2.
