Frieze and Deutsche Bank Debut ‘The Art of Conversation'

Launched at the 59th Venice Biennale, the new series of talks will continue throughout Italy, bringing together leading voices from institutions, artists, and collectors

Frieze and Deutsche Bank have launched a new series of talks, ‘The Art of Conversation’, which made its debut at the 59th Venice Biennale.

Taking place during the opening week, the first talk celebrated the new exhibitions at TBA-21 Academy’s Ocean Space (Venice), and featured artist Diana Policarpo, curator Chus Martinez and Director of TBA21-Academy Markus Reymann.

Established and led by TBA21–Academy, Ocean Space is located in the Church of San Lorenzo in Venice and describes itself as a ‘planetary center for exhibitions, research and public programs catalyzing ocean literacy and advocacy through the arts.’

The new 'Art of Conversation' series will continue throughout 2022, and is intended to showcase the continued evolution of the creative landscape across Italy, by bringing together some of the country’s leading institutions, artists and collectors. Prompting a dialogue around some of the most topical issues in contemporary art, the conversations will also look to make new connections and encourage debate.

Nathan Clements-Gillespie, Director, Frieze Masters, said: ‘This new initiative demonstrates an important extension of Frieze’s relationship with Deutsche Bank as for the first time we are working together beyond our fairs. ‘The Art of Conversation’ also presents another development for Frieze – programming a series of events in Italy for the first time.'
