About the Work

Navigating digital, corporeal and ancestral memory as sites of struggles, Tabita Rezaire embraces scientific imaginaries to tackle the pervasive matrix of coloniality affecting our body-mind-spirits. Inspired by quantum and cosmic mechanics, her work is rooted in time-spaces where technology and spirituality intersect. Deep Down Tidal excavates the power of water as a conductive interface for communication. From submarine cables to sunken cities, drowned bodies, hidden histories of navigations and sacred transmissions, the ocean is the site of a complex set of networks. As information and communication technologies become omnipresent in our industrialized realities, the film prompts us to reconsider the cultural, political and environmental forces that have shaped them.

About the Artist

Tabita Rezaire (b. 1989; based in Cayenne, French Guyana) is an artist, devotee, yogi, doula and farmer, a path that weaves healing arts and scientific systems through connections to the land, ancestors, songs. Her cross-dimensional practices envision network sciences – organic, electronic and spiritual – as healing technologies to serve the shift towards heart consciousness. Embracing digital, corporeal and ancestral memory, she digs into scientific imaginaries and mystical realms to tackle the colonial wounds and energetic imbalances that affect the songs of our body-mind-spirits. Recent exhibitions include KANAL Centre Pompidou, Brussels (2023); Serpentine Gallery, London (2022); Guangzhou Triennial (2018) and Performa (2017).
