Eliza Douglas
Untitled, 2022
Oil on canvas
Presented by Overduin & Co
$ 18,500
I am an avowed Mickey Mouse enthusiast so I was enthralled the moment I saw it. I love how the painting’s swirling composition imperceptibly draws you in and how it blurs the line between abstraction and figuration, pop culture and high art, and the familiar and the uncanny.
Olafur Eliasson
Colour experiment no. 102, 2021
Oil on canvas
Presented by Tanya Bonakdar Gallery
€ 275,000
I love how a subtle gesture like painting a slim rainbow-hued ribbon on a pitch-black canvas can have such a visceral effect. It cleverly encapsulates the lasting impression that an ephemeral natural phenomenon such as a rainbow can have on my mood.
Nora Turato
did you know that when the first porn movie was screened in 1897 the viewers thought that the girl would jump out of the screen and fuck them?, 2021
Vitreous enamel on steel
Presented by LambdaLambdaLambda
€ 35,000
The title alone had me at hello, as did its handwritten rendition, but more than that, I find most interesting how its playfulness is visually echoed by the Op Art-like composition. I could stare at this piece for hours.
XU ZHEN
Eternity-Aphrodite of Knidos, Tang Dynasty Sitting Buddha, 2021
Bronze, steel, paint, concrete
Presented by James Cohan
$ 300,000
Being Greek, classical antiquity is ingrained in my psyche, but at the same time I’ve always been intrigued by Buddhist culture, so this piece really spoke to me. I love its yin-and-yang playfulness, lopsided symmetry and meditative sensibility.
Matt Paweski,
Alphabet, 2022
Aluminium, aluminium rivets, vinyl paint, silicone, rubber
Presented by Herald St
$10-20k
I find the ambiguity of this piece very engrossing. Is it a whimsical coat rack, some kind of signage or mystical emblem? I love that I make different associations every time I look at it. I also adore the bold graphics and vibrant colour palette.
