At the Fair
Gallery Highlights
Begin your exploration of Frieze Seoul 2024 at COEX with Focus Asia section with ten solo artist presentations from Asia-based galleries opened in or after 2012. Standouts include Jun Sojung’s video Syncope (2023), commissioned by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art's Korea Artist Prize and presented at the fair by Barakat Contemporary Seoul; and Kingsley Gunatillake (Blueprint 12) whose work is a visceral response to Sri Lanka’s history of civil war.
Across the fair, don’t miss presentations by artists participating in the 15th Gwangju Biennale, including Istanbul-born artist Hayal Pozanti (Jessica Silverman), who has her first solo exhibition in Asia at Frieze Seoul and will be featured in the American Pavilion; and Marguerite Humeau and Marina Rheingantz (both showing with White Cube).
LIVE Performances
Experience Frieze LIVE’s inaugural edition titled 신·경(神經): ‘Nerve or Divine Pathway’ at COEX.
At 12pm and 4pm, don’t miss Kim Wonyoung and Project YYIN’s performance Becoming-dancer. Reimagining Yvonne Rainer’s Trio A (1968) with performers in wheelchairs, the work poses the question “if dance is open to all movement, is all movement open to all bodies?” (Hall D, P2, Next to C24 Booth).
