Meet the ten emerging filmmakers shortlisted for the first Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award
Created in partnership with award-winning, non-profit film academy Ghetto Film School, Frieze and Deutsche Bank present the first Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award at the second edition of Frieze Los Angeles. From an open call to aspiring and emerging filmmakers, ten finalists have been selected to take part in a development program with Ghetto Film School so each can produce their own short films, reflecting the influence of the city’s art, culture and social landscape on their filmmaking.
All ten will show their work at the Paramount Theater during Frieze Los Angeles, and a jury including leading art and entertainment figures Doug Aitken, Shari Frilot, Jeremy Kagan, Sam Taylor Johnson and Hamza Walker will award the winner $10,000.
In this video, the ten finalists discuss their relationships to LA, their approaches to filmmaking and their hopes for the future - of their careers and of the industry.
The short films by all ten finalists for the Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award will be screened in the Paramount Theatre during Frieze Los Angeles on Friday 3pm, Saturday 3pm and Sunday 4.30pm.
