The density of art institutions in the Rhineland and Benelux region is exceptional. We asked an artist, a musician, an art critic and a number of museum directors and curators from the region what the benefits and drawbacks of this landscape are for exhibition makers and audiences alike
Tom Mortonis a writer, curator, and contributing editor of frieze, based in London. Brian Dillonis a writer and critic, and UK editor of Cabinet magazine. He is the curator of the touring show ‘Curiosity: Art and the Pleasures of Knowing’, which tours to Newlyn & The Exchange, Penzance (25 January – 26 April). A collection of his essays, Objects in This Mirror, was published recently by Sternberg Press.

Carmen Winantis an artist and writer. She teaches at the University of Colorado. Her writing appears in Frieze, Art Papers and The Believer, among others. She is the co-editor of The Highlights Journal.
Chris Wileyis an artist and writer. He recently acted as an advisor and catalogue writer for ‘The Encyclopedic Palace’ at the 55th Venice Biennale. A show featuring his work will open at PS1 MoMA, New York, in March.
