Grosvenor Gallery presents a solo exhibition by pivotal artist and writer Rasheed Araeen. ‘SIXTY-THREE YEARS OF THE FIGURAL’ highlights the role of the figure in Araeen’s practice, including early drawings and with a particular focus on his political works and performances from the 1970s–80s. Across diverse media, Araeen addresses racism, colonialism, police violence and cultural imperialism. As part of the exhibition, Araeen will also screen his seminal performance Paki Bastard (Portrait of the Artist as a Black Person), originally staged at Artists for Democracy in 1977. Also on show will be his striking acrylic-painted wooden geometric sculptures, which connect Eastern and Western thought, social institutions and aesthetics.  Find out More

Working across poetry, activism, visual arts, performance and writing, the American artist Jimmie Durham (1940-2021) sought to deconstruct the historical narratives imposed by dominant cultures. Galleri Opdahl presents Durham’s work from the late 1990s–2018 in which he unites disparate materials to undermine our grip on language and knowledge. Wood and stone, for example, are used by Durham to unsettle the hierarchical arrangement of materials within construction. This exhibition explores how Durham questions the interstices of shared memory and how testimony is inscribed in materials. Durham’s reflective and humorous approach prises open our relationship with nature to suggest alternative modes of connection.  Find out More

‘Continuum’ is a dual presentation by London-based painters Ella McVeigh and Konstantina Krikzoni, revealing their distinctive approaches to formalism. In her latest paintings, Krikzoni works with oils, acrylics and rubber to explore the female body and other organic forms. Krikzoni’s gestures push the female figure towards deconstruction, situating her practice between the figurative and the abstract and resulting in large canvases that feel spirited and sensual. In her most recent work, McVeigh approaches painting as a form of problem-solving, blending the natural and artificial to morph chaos into structure. Her abstract practice works with line, colour and form to produce intricate paintings and drawings. ‘Continuum’ celebrates these two unique gestural languages. Find out More
